Big brass theft from city park

City Renewal Authority’s chief executive Malcolm Snow.
WEST Basin’s Henry Rolland Park has been damaged to the tune of about $100,000 following recent vandalism, according to the City Renewal Authority.

The authority says brass was removed from 26 benches, 21 bollards, three bins and two drinking fountains in a saddening act of vandalism.

The authority is considering options to replace the stolen brass and restore the park and is working on making the area safe so the community can continue enjoying it.

ACT police are investigating the theft of the brass material from Acton, which they believe was taken between Wednesday morning (August 8) and Thursday afternoon.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area or saw anything suspicious at the time of the alleged theft, and also anyone who may have dash cam footage of the area at the time.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website using reference number P1676257
