Man stabbed in leg while walking home

A MAN was walking home when he was tripped, kicked and stabbed in the leg by a group of men on Melrose Drive between Staverton Place and Corinna Street, Lyons. 

The man was walking the rest of the way home after he was given a lift from Wanniassa to Melrose Drive at about 9.30pm on Saturday, May 12.

Soon after he was dropped off he came across a group of around eight men, two of whom were holding knives. He was tripped and once on the ground he was kicked repeatedly, stabbed in the left leg, and cut under his right eye.

During the assault his mobile phone and wallet were stolen.

The man has facial fractures and broken teeth as a result of this aggravated robbery.

Police are seeking to identify any of the alleged offenders, and are asking motorists with dash-cams in their cars who were in the area at the time to check their footage.

One of the offenders is described as of African descent. His face was covered, and he was holding a flick-knife with a blade about 5cm in length.

A second offender is described as having his face covered with a black piece of clothing. He had blue eyes, and some blonde hair was visible. He was carrying a hunting knife with a blade about 5cm in length.

The other offenders all had their faces covered. One of them was wearing white Nike Air shoes.
