Second Marketplace robber faces court

A SECOND man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (March 6) in relation to the crime scene, which disrupted Gungahlin Marketplace yesterday. 

Police were called to the marketplace at about 4.45am following reports of a robbery. Yesterday, police alleged that one of the men, a 33-year-old from Monash, assaulted a police officer, who had to be taken to hospital for treatment. He faced the ACT Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

This morning a second man, a 22-year-old, will face charges in relation to the aggravated burglary and the assault of a police officer.

He is being charged with trespass on premises, two counts of aggravated burglary, going equipped for theft, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possess offensive weapon with intent, and two counts of obstruct/ resist territory public official (knowingly).

Detective acting superintendent Adrian Craft says anyone who assaults police officers, who protect the community, will be charged and will face court.
