THE new Midnight Hotel in 1 Elouera Street, Braddon, is hosting Thomas Bucich with an artist-in-residence exhibit in the newly opened hotel atrium, following the commissioning and installation of 200 original wall sculptures in the hotels guest rooms and suites. The exhibition will run from 11am-6pm, Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm, Saturday and Sunday, until November 24, all welcome.

The Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens Photographic Group will launch their annual exhibition, “Treasures” at the Visitor Centre, 5.50pm, Wednesday, November 20, all welcome. The show then runs from November 21 to December 8.

CUSTOM Limited Edition is a retail and gallery space in Braddon which opens its doors annually for the month of Christmas. This year for Design Canberra it will showcase the work of Lia Tjacnar, Andres Caycedo, Elliot Bastionon, Annie Parnell, Rob Schwartz, Rolf Barford, Jane Horton, Richilde Flavell, Astrid Barta and others under the theme, “The Silver Lining”. CANBERRA artist Julie Aston will be exhibiting her small, whimsical sculptures in an exhibition called “The Gathering”, opening at 23 Goodparla St Hawker, 4pm, November 23. It will continue, 10am-5pm, daily, until December 1.

“VAN Gogh & Japan” is a new art film opening nationally on November 21 for Exhibition on Screen. This film journeys from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, to Provence and Japan, features Van Gogh’s personal letters and written accounts by friends and contemporaries which reveal deep a connection to Japanese art. A POP-UP exhibition of ceramics by Sarit Cohen features as part of the 2019 DESIGN Canberra Festival. The selection of works follows on from Cohen’s participation in the 2018 exhibition, “The Void”. Held at CraftACT gallery, artists were invited to respond to and re-imagine the design work of the late Canberra architect Enrico Taglietti. At ANU Drill Hall Gallery until Sunday, November 24.

Bilk Gallery has abandoned its usual “White Christmas” theme for this year’s end of year exhibition, “The Big Dry”. Featuring new work by artists such as Linda Hughes, Kath Inglis, Chris Bahng, Zoe Brand, Claire McArdle, Vicki Mason, Larah Nott, Thomas O’Hara, Helen Aitken-Kuhnen, Mio Kuhnen, Marian Hosking, Jane Reilly, Melissa Cameron, Eugenie Keefer Bell and Sean O’Connell, the exhibitors will consider the environment, water, biodiversity, wind and drought. THE Belconnen Community Gallery Piece of Mind series presents “Making Tracks”, a mixed media exhibition by participants of the Belconnen Community Service open studio program.
