THE December to January exhibition at Gallery Bodalla features outstanding paintings by Jennifer Taylor and Cheryl Davison’s recent works on paper. In “Breath of the Mountain”, Taylor’s plein air paintings connect with Yuin Country, Arrernte Country and Aotearoa/NZ while Davison’s paintings and prints are distinctly Aboriginal with a strong modern influence. IN “Biospectre”, artist Grace Blake explores hypothetical, non-human bodies, posing a future dominated by non-human and hybridised beings. Opens at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, 19 Furneaux Street, Manuka, 6pm, Friday, December 13. It’ll then continue 11am-5pm, Friday-Sunday, until December 22.
CRAFT ACT: Craft + Design Centre is presenting a shopping event where visitors can meet the makers and enjoy free gift wrapping. Level 1, North Building, 180 London Circuit, 4pm-5pm, Thursday, December 12, and 1pm-2pm, Saturday, December 14.
CIT’s visual arts graduation season, opens on December 12. As part of a vocational institution, CIT art students don’t just learn about making skills, but also the creative thinking skills and industry knowledge that artists need to forge their own careers. Diploma of Visual Arts students will be exhibiting in the DesignSpace Gallery, and the Certificate IV group will be exhibiting in the L Block corridor space, CIT, 37 Constitution Avenue Reid, until December 12.
THE NFSA is giving after-hours access to “Game Masters” from 5pm-9pm, this Friday, December 13, with more than 80 playable games, a cash bar and music in the courtyard.
