Janet Dawson, ‘Cloud comics No.1’ – detail.

NANCY Sever Gallery is presenting an exhibition of works, “Clouds all the Way”, by Janet Dawson, one of Australia’s most distinguished artists. Dawson’s work is to be found in major institutional and private collections in Australia and overseas. The show opens at the Nancy Sever Gallery, Gorman arts Centre, on Saturday, June 22 and then runs 11am-5pm, Wednesday to Sunday, until July 21. 

TO mark the opening of the “Contemporary Worlds: Indonesia” exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia, running from June 21 to October 27, there will be a suite of special events, beginning with an “Art After Hours” celebration of the launch, which will see live performances by artists Melati Suryodarmo, Duto Hardono, Tisna Sanjaya, Octora and a DJ set by Weekend Warriors. BELCONNEN Community Gallery’s “RESPECT” series continues when Felicia (Floss) Fletcher exhibits her paintings in “Transformation: A meditation on form and feelings”. At Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Court, Belconnen, 9am-5pm,  Monday to Friday, June 18–28.

AN exhibition titled “The DNA of Colour: Ildiko Kovacs”, which features a decade of Ildiko Kovacs’ roller paintings, will be opened by curator Deborah Hart at the Drill Hall Gallery, ANU, 6pm, Thursday, June 20. It’ll then run until August 11.

“C O V E T: Contemporary Jewellery brooches and neckpieces” by Joungmee Do, Daehoon Kang, Melanie Katsalidis, Leslie Matthews,  Taë Schmeisser and Robin Well, along with paintings  by Crispin Akerman, will be showing at Beaver Galleries, 81 Denison Street, Deakin, from 6pm, Thursday, June 20. The exhibition then runs until July 7.

SCOTT Leggo Gallery’s first birthday weekend celebrations are running at 45 Jardine Street, Kingston, over the weekend of June 22-23. Visitors are welcome and will be in the running for prizes, including Thredbo lift passes, a couple’s weekend away at Lake Crackenback resort, accommodation packages and more.

PHOTOACCESS is now showing “MARU – KU : Belonging to Black”, a thought-provoking exhibition showcasing artists Bonnie Connelly, Billy Cooley, Lulu Cooley, Charlie Ford, David Haigh, Narelle Holland, Saha Jones, Rene Kulitja, Francine Kulitja, Niningka Lewis, Pantjiti McKenzie, Thomas Mayor, Nellie Patterson, Kathryn Queama, Ruth Stone, Debra West, Christine West and Robert Woods, from the Western and Central Deserts of Australia. The exhibition is presented as part of the organisation’s NAIDOC Week celebrations and continues in the PhotoAccess Huw Davies Gallery, until Saturday, July 13.

THE “Wow” exhibition at Aarwun Gallery in Gold Creek opens, with a variety of artists, at the unusual time of 2.02pm this Saturday, June 22. As part of the show, the gallery is also offering members of the public a chance to win a framed limited edition Darryl Trott print by following @aarwungallery on Instagram and tagging friends. Ends midnight, July 7.
