PHOTOACCESS presents an all-female line up with two new exhibitions opening in the Huw Davies Gallery at 6pm on Thursday, July 18.

“Australasian Beauty” by Canberra’s Andy Mullens uses self-departure to investigate the fetishisation and infantilisation of Asian women in the Anglosphere, while “Luminous Range” by Yvette Hamilton is an immersive, multi-sensory exhibition, that explores the symbiotic relationship between photography and the lighthouse. Manuka Arts Centre, Thursday, July 18 – August 17.

“ART Show” is an exhibition of abstract assemblages by Kael Stasce concerned with how we view and understand space through painting and sculpture. These minimal constructions use the gallery’s architectural characteristics and imperfections as an element within the work, combining two and three-dimensional materials with the surrounding environment. Opening at ANCA Gallery, 1 Rosevear Place, Dickson, 6pm, Wednesday, July 17, all welcome. The show continues until August 4.

QUEANBEYAN Art Society currently has its annual “Masters-Life Drawing-Nudes and Sculptures” art competition and exhibition on show at the Queanbeyan Art Society Gallery in Trinculo Place under the bridge on the Queanbeyan River, all month.

WATSON Arts Centre’s current exhibition, “Stillness: Still Life on Paper”, is the result of a collaboration between Canberra Potters and contemporary artist Genevieve Swifte, who recently completed an artist-in-residence project and two workshops in the centre’s gallery. The show displays meditative drawings undertaken collectively in her workshops, accompanied by personal explorations of objects found at the Canberra Potters. 1 Aspinall Street, Watson, 10am-4pm, Tuesday to Sunday until July 28.

IN the exhibition “Geomancy”, painter Becky Gibson responds to the poetics, strangeness and unexpected drama to be found on building sites and gardens. Exhibition opens at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, 19 Furneaux Street, Manuka, until July 21.
