PHOTOACCESS has an all-female line-up with three new exhibitions: “Stillness and Rest” by Valentina Schultzre; “Tracing Silence” by Kristin Diemer and Senga Peckham; and “Dieback” by Sammy Hawker. All will be opened by the National Museum of Australia’s head curator of the Anthropocene Australia Centre, Martha Sear, in the Huw Davies Gallery, 6pm, Thursday, May 9, all welcome. The exhibition continues at the Manuka Arts Centre until June 8.

THE sea meets the suburbs in a double exhibition opening in Braidwood. “Sea Moods”, by South Coast artist Craig Cameron, focuses on the sea, while “The People Next Door”, by Ray Monde, sets the quarter-acre block as a stage. Altenburg & Co, 104 Wallace Street, Braidwood, May 10 to June 10.

IN “On the Verge” two graduates from the ANU School of Art & Design, Thea Katauskas and Susan Banks, turn the spotlight onto the overlooked life of the nature strip, noting the invisible human interventions and activity that maintain the life of Canberra, as well as the thriving nature that persists whilst being hemmed by roadways and built environments. At ANCA Gallery, 1 Rosevear Place, Dickson, 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Friday, until May 19.

IT’S far afield but “Rewriting the Score”, a major painting, moving image and sound work created by Canberra artist Alexander Boynes in collaboration with Mandy Martin and Tristen Parr, opens at Latrobe Regional Gallery, 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, 6pm, Friday, May 10, all welcome.
