THE Defence Force is turning on a fabulous, free event this Saturday (May 18) for the ACT community and visitors to the national capital in support of “Soldier On”.
There’ll be tethered balloon rides from the air force, a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) from the navy for kids and adults to climb aboard, an army armoured vehicle (Bushmaster) and a kids obstacle course/dummy grenade throwing activity, as well as the Army Rock band, the RMC Marching Band, and other acts featuring police pipes and drums.
As well, the day will feature an AFP/border force presentation, a display by Soldier On, giveaways, junior rugby games, and drill presentations by navy, army and air force cadets.
And, “CityNews” hears, the Vietnam Vets will be cooking up a storm!
Defence Force Day, 9am-5pm, Saturday, May 18. Gungahlin Enclosed Oval, 17 Warwick Street, Gungahlin. Free but a gold coin donation for “Soldier On” would be appreciated.
