Drunk driver loses it after police chase

A POLICE chase came to an end when a drunk driver lost control of his car early on Sunday morning (June 2).

Police headed out to Mulligans Flat Road in Bonner at about 12.15am following reports about a red Holden Commodore, which was missing one wheel, driving dangerously.

It’s alleged that the driver, a 26-year-old Gungahlin man, tried to ram a member of public with the car.

When police found the car on Mabo Boulevard the driver allegedly attempted to ram the police vehicle too, before fleeing the area and driving directly at a second police vehicle.

The man was caught by police after he lost control of the car. He was taken to a police station for a breath analysis and returned a high range reading of 0.164.

Anyone who may have any information that could assist police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website using reference number 6402410.
