‘Epic’ event brings thousands of dogs to the ACT

MORE than 2000 dogs of all sizes and breeds will be in the ACT from Thursday, July 4, for a four-day canine sports competition called the “Epic Advance Dog Extravaganza”.

Now in its fourth year in Canberra, the Dogs ACT vice-president Judith Woolley says the event has seen a number of exhibitors and visitors grow, and this year Dogs ACT expects to see more than 700 exhibitors at the event.

“It is a fun weekend for everyone and we welcome all… [to the] open day on Saturday, July 6,” she says.

The four-day event will include 24 conformation shows, local dog sport activities and, Ms Woolley says a first-time special event for gun dogs.

Competitions will include events such as agility, obedience and flyball, where a panel of judges will be hailed from Japan, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Finland, Canada, Ireland and Hungary.

Ms Woolley says all competitors and their canines will be seeking the prized title of “best in show”, “trial” or “competition”.

“Epic Advance Dog Extravaganza” open day, Canberra Exhibition Park, 8.30am-7pm, Saturday, July 6.
