EMERGENCY services were forced to close a street in Narrabundah after a large water main burst, leaving the residential area flooded.
ACT ESA reported the burst at about 3pm resulting in the closure of Sturt Street, even to residents.
There are a number of properties impacted and crews are currently assessing surrounding streets.
ACT State Emergency Service are en route to support firefighters and the community.
UPDATE: 4.30pm, May 30
THE water leak has now been contained but the area is not expected to reopen today.
ACTSES members are currently door knocking homes to help impacted residents, as well as completing a damage assessment.
Residents requiring help for flood damage can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
