Fyshwick business owner escapes death

THE owner of a business in Fyshwick faced death when a robber allegedly attempted to discharge a firearm at the owner in January.

The man who attempted to use the firearm, a 52-year-old, was with a co-offender when he entered the business on January 7.

They were both armed and both fled the scene in a vehicle after the 52-year-old attempted to discharge a firearm at the owner.

The vehicle was located a short time later in Kambah, and a subsequent search located two firearms and other evidence.

On January 18, the 52-year-old man was arrested by NSW Police in Tumut, where he was charged with further offences and remanded.

Today, July 17, ACT police extradited him from a NSW correctional facility to face the ACT Magistrates Court this afternoon on charges of attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

The co-offender was taken into custody earlier this year, and was charged with aggravated robbery and reckless threat to kill.
