Interstate scammer caught in Queanbeyan

A MAN was arrested at a motel in Queanbeyan yesterday (June 19) after he allegedly scammed several people out of money by pretending to sell electrical goods and then taking a deposit. He then ceased contact with “buyers”.

The 44-year-old was located in a motel on Crawford Street at about 1pm, where police say they found methylamphetamine and an amount of cash in his possession.

He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with the three warrants, as well goods in custody, possess prohibited drug and obtain benefit by deception.

NSW Police are liaising with interstate police, and it is believed he is wanted for similar offences in Queensland and Western Australia.

The man faced the Queanbeyan Local Court today (June 20).
