AUSTRALIA’S drumming ensemble Taikoz, joined by dancer Chieko Kojima from Japan, will explore the “immersive” qualities of Japanese taiko in its production “The Beauty of 8”, named after the flamboyant yokouchi (side-on) style of taiko playing. THE Participation Grant Program has allocated $85,000 for the 2020 National Multicultural Festival. Last year 80 people received grants to showcase their cultural traditions and heritage. Applications (to communityservices.act.gov.au) close 5pm, Monday, August 5.
