Man threatened with gun in Queanbeyan

Police found a number of items during the search

A TWENTY-year-old man sought help from Queanbeyan police after he was allegedly threatened by two men with a handgun early yesterday (November 27) morning. 

The incident took place at about 1.30am on Carinya Street, and following police inquiries, they stopped a vehicle on Cooma Road and arrested two men, aged 35 and 52.

During a search of the vehicle, a replica firearm was located and seized.

Police then searched an address in Boronia Street, where they seized a conducted electrical weapon, gel blaster firearm, BB pistol, replica firearm, numerous knives and machetes, a cannabis plant, property believed to be stolen and a small amount of methamphetamine.

The younger man was charged with common assault, possessing an unauthorised pistol, having custody of an offensive implement in a public place, and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without permit.

The older man was charged with common assault and possession of an unauthorised pistol.

Both men will face the Queanbeyan Local Court.
