JANE SHELLING likes to help out at the community radio station 1RPH Canberra. 

1RPH Canberra is a community radio reading service specifically for people with a print disability, but also popular with the general listening public.

Listeners may include the vision impaired, people with another short-term or permanent disability or difficulty with reading the English language. Some listeners may not have time to read or may just like listening to others read.

Whatever the reason, 1RPH Canberra has provided its reading service since 1985, broadcasting across Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Junee helping keep communities connected and informed through radio. Broadcasting from the 1RPH studio on Barton Highway in Gungahlin, volunteer readers and administrative supporters work together to provide this service, which is part of a national RPH network.

1RPH Canberra is an independent, not-for-profit, community group open for membership. It also seeks volunteers, donations and sponsors. Find out more from our website or tune in to the station that turns print into sound.
