IT’S almost been nine years since two aggravated robberies occurred, one at Wanniassa Red Rooster, and another at the Lanyon Vikings Club, but police are calling for the witnesses who came forward at the time, to come forward again. 

The first robbery allegedly saw two armed offenders go into Red Rooster and force the manager to hand over an amount of money in June, 2010.

Shortly, a member of the community called Crime Stoppers and provided information about the incident. Police are now hoping to speak with them.

The second robbery saw three individuals steal money from the Lanyon Vikings Club in August, 2010. Days later, information about a vehicle potentially linked to the robbery was provided via the Crime Stoppers website. Police are now looking to speak with whoever reported this information too.

Detective station Sergeant Harry Hains says they acknowledge that the provision of information via Crime Stoppers can be anonymous, however, they’re issuing a call for these people to reconsider their position and make themselves known.

“We also understand the significant time period between when this crime occurred and now – however the people who provided this information will know they did so, and we believe they can provide vital additional information for an ongoing investigation,” he says.

“Police are thankful for any information provided by the community and respect a person’s decision to provide it anonymously. However, in this case we would like these persons to consider whether they need to remain anonymous.”
