Shadow of the tower in burn-off smoke

Photos: Andrew Campbell

AS smoke drifted across Canberra from a hazard reduction burn atop Black Mountain yesterday (May 17), Canberra photographer Andrew Campbell caught these amazing images of what he calls the “cool shadow of the tower in its own smoke”.

Authorities said the burn-off was to protect Telstra Tower and that it was normal for stumps and heavy logs to continue to smoulder. Crews continued to monitor and patrol the burn until no smoke was visible.
