Firefighters were alerted to the fire at about 8.45pm, at Condamine Court on Forbes Street, where they extinguished the fire on the ground floor.
ACT Ambulance Service paramedics assessed a number of people for smoke inhalation and one person was transported to hospital.
Occupants were allowed back into the building last night.
