Expressions Dance company presents… “The Dinner Party”

LEONARD Weiss will conduct Musica da Camera in “Reimaginings”, Arensky’s “Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky”, “Like snowdrops you will shine” by Sydney composer Katia Beaugeais, as well as Max Richter’s re-composition of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” with violinist Helena Popovic as soloist. “DON’T Call Me Girlie” is a line from the 1938 comedy “Dad and Dave Come to Town”. It’s also the name of a film about women who worked in the golden years of Australia’s film industry and will screen for the Friends of the NFSA at Canberra Museum and Gallery, 2.30pm-4pm, this Friday, June 21. Admission is free for “Friends” and a gold coin donation for others.

ACTOR Christopher Samuel Carroll joins drummer Steve Fitzgerald to perform “Howie the Rookie”, a highly-charged and darkly comic play by contemporary Irish playwright Mark O’Rowe. At Smith’s Alternative, 76 Alinga Street, Civic, 7pm, June 20 and 21. Bookings to smithsalternative.com

“BRUCE” is a two-man, one puppet show fusing mime and puppetry. It was created by Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduates Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd and Tim Watts, who are also the two men working with the one puppet. ART Song Canberra has soprano Sarahlouise Owens with pianist Natalia Tkachenko in a concert entitled “Venus Unwrapped”.
