VOLUNTEERS of the ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) and the ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) will be able to claim financial support for loss of income from service during the recent bushfires season, says Emergency Services Minister Mick Gentleman.

About 200 applicants across the ACTRFS and ACTSES will qualify for payments of about $6000 after the Federal Government agreed to apply the same NSW eligibility criteria to ACT volunteers, Mr Gentleman says.

As part of the volunteer firefighters’ financial support program, which is funded by the Federal Government, payments will cover the period from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020.

Volunteers will be notified about how to make an application through the ESA website and internal communications channels.
