ANU staff told to work from home

A WEEK after the ANU announced it would move to digital learning for its students as a response to COVID-19, it has now said that most of its staff will be required to work away from the campus.

ANU vice-chancellor Prof Brian Schmidt made the announcement today (March 25) saying, from tomorrow (March 26), all staff, except for some very limited and select cases, will work away from campus.

From Monday, March 30, all teaching will be remote and, except limited and essential cases, the campus will be closed, he says.

He says a small group of identified staff will continue lab-based work on COVID-19, and maintain financial payments, payroll and security.

“ANU will still operate as the nation’s university, but likely not from our campus until at least June 27,” he says.

The university’s residences will stay open, under strict social-distancing, health and hygiene regimes, he says.

Prof Schmidt says staff will continue to be paid.
