Armed girl attempts to rob woman in carpark

AN armed 14-year-old girl attempted to rob a woman at a shopping centre carpark in Wannaissa.

On June 21, two people, one holding a copper pipe and the other with a knife, approached and threatened a 56-year-old while she was putting items in her car.

The attackers, one of which is alleged by police to be the girl, fled after the woman resisted.

Later that evening, a vehicle was stopped in Knowles Place, Civic, and a 19-year-old man was arrested. He is currently remanded in custody charged with attempted aggravated robbery, and is scheduled to make a second court appearance on this charge on July 14.

Then, after further enquiries, police headed to an address in Uriarra Village yesterday (July 2), where they arrested the 14-year-old at about 3.15pm.

She will face the ACT Children’s Court charged with attempted aggravated robbery.
