Armed man breaks into Wanniassa units, assaults resident

AN armed Bonython man walked into a unit complex car park in Wanniassa on Saturday (September 12) and allegedly assaulted a resident before breaking into a unit. 

The 29-year-old walked into the car park at about 1.30pm, armed with a home-made knife and a golf club.

He allegedly threw golf balls at several nearby properties, threatened residents, assaulted one resident and entered a unit before attempting to enter another.

When police arrived at the unit complex they located the man in a third unit and arrested him.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on charges including three counts of possessing an offensive weapon with intent, one count of aggravated burglary with intent to damage property, one count of burglary, three counts of damaging property, one count of destroying property, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of trespass on premises.
