THE lights are coming back on at Canberra Repertory with a decision to re-open its venue and the announcement that director Karen Vickery is hard at work on Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs”, opening on July 30, to be followed by Joe Orton’s “What the Butler Saw” and Alan Ayckbourn’s “Absurd Person Singular”. Beatrix Christian’s “The Governor’s Family” has been moved to REP’s 2021 season but “Doubt, a Parable” has been cancelled.

WELL-known Canberra artist Jo Holler’s “Selected Prints and Drawings” exhibition opens at Helen Stephens Gallery at 39 Murray Street, Collector, with a live “meet the artist” opening 2pm-4pm, Sunday, July 5. The exhibition then continues to August 9 or view here.

THIS is Beethoven’s 300^th birthday year, so Selby & Friends are presenting “Beethoven’s Ghost: Ludwig from Lockdown!” The concert has been shot in high res, hi-fi under social distance protocols at Sydney’s City Recital Hall in its first concert since lockdown, and it is available online July 4. The tribute is centred on Beethoven’s revolutionary “Ghost” piano trio, bookended by his C minor Trio Opus 1, No. 3 and Beethoven’s own arrangement for piano trio of his Symphony No. 2. CRAFT ACT has launched two new exhibitions. “Differing Perspectives” is an exhibition by emerging makers and JamFactory Furniture Studio associates, Calum Hurley and Jordan Leeflang, of sculptural objects and pieces of furniture which respond to different photographs of metropolitan Japan, and “You Are Doing It Again”, is an exhibition on wearable artworks by artist Zoe Brand who uses jewellery archetypes, ready-mades and text to explore the performative nature of jewellery.
