CANBERRA Theatre’s “CTC@Home” continues this week. On Wednesday (July 15) spoken-word artist CJ Bowerbird will be performing at 6pm, then at 7pm, the 2017 “CityNews” Artist of the Year, Liz Lea will perform “Red”, her one-woman dance extravaganza. On Friday, July 17, local musician Sebastian Fields will perform at 6pm, followed by Lisa Richards at 7pm. Finally at 8pm, Chris Endrey’s “The World from Here” will look at “Eliteness”. WELL-known Canberra photographer, academic and former NGA curator, Helen Ennis, has been awarded the 2020 Margarey Medal for her book, “Olive Cotton: A life in photography”. The judges said the work “deftly navigates the dual strands of the genre of biography, creating a revelatory but non-invasive narrative.” Cotton was initially overshadowed as a photographer by a more flamboyant and charismatic first husband, Max Dupain, but her work was eventually rediscovered in several landmark exhibitions.

THE National Film and Sound Archive of Australia has received an additional $5.5 million in funding for the digitisation of the audio-visual heritage of the country, it has been announced by Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, Paul Fletcher. In 2015 the NFSA published “Deadline 2025: Collections at Risk”, warning that cultural heritage held on magnetic tape, including programs like “ Young Talent Time” and “A Country Practice”, could be lost forever unless digitised by 2025.

NOT-for-profit arts or cultural organisation with a project to fund and a fundraising strategy in mind can now apply for the 2020/2021 Creative Partnerships Australia’s “Plus1” matched funding program which helps small to medium arts organisations incentivise their fundraising by offering dollar for dollar matched funding.
