‘ASIO employee’ deceives his way to $700,000

A RED Hill man pretending to be an Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) employee allegedly obtained more than $700,000 from a person known to him, through deception. 

Police will allege that between 2016 and 2018 the 30-year-old obtained 156 items by deception and pretended to be a Commonwealth official on 78 occasions.

During the investigation a Mitsubishi Triton and three horses were seized in accordance with the “Confiscation of Criminal Assets Act 2003”.

He will face charges before the ACT Magistrates Court.
