CHIEF Minister Andrew Barr will declare a health state of emergency for the ACT today (March 16) after Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews announced a state of emergency for Victoria this morning.
The state of emergency will allow the ACT government and Canberra’s chief health officer Kerryn Coleman to enforce self-isolation following on from Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement during a press conference yesterday where he said: “The states and territories will be moving to put in place the appropriate arrangements under their state based legislation to ensure that is supported.”
There are currently two confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the ACT.
