KUMON Education centres across Canberra continue to offer learning for children of all ages, to help them do their best academically in maths and English, according to the Tuggeranong centre’s instructor and owner Jane Hiatt.
All the Kumon centres, which are designed to encourage independent learning by providing students with worksheets, to be done for 20-30 minutes each day, are now holding weekly face-to-face classes, with reduced student numbers.
Throughout the period of school closure and social isolation, Jane says Kumon gave her students stability through the structured, step-by-step program.
“The time at home may have highlighted to parents either the difficulty they might have in motivating their children, or the difficulties they might be experiencing with the school curriculum,” she says.
“Whether they are needing extra help or more challenges, Kumon can extend and draw out the potential in them.
“Children need to exercise their perseverance and Kumon is an excellent way to do that academically, once a day.”
Jane says children love the sense of satisfaction and confidence that comes from perseverance and achieving their goals at Kumon.
There are Kumon Education centres located at Pearce, north Lyneham, Palmerston and Tuggeranong.
