THE ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has already received 45 requests for help and they’re expecting more, with another two days of heavy rain predicted.
ACTSES say calls have come from right across the ACT since 11.30pm last night.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting 100 per cent rainfall, with the possibility of heavy rainfall for today, and a 95 per cent chance of rainfall with the possibility of heavy rainfall for tomorrow. There’s a chance of thunderstorms on both days, too.
Volunteer crews from ACTSES as well as crews from ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) are working hard to get to all requests, and are urging Canberrans to remain patient.
The ESA advises that due to the demand for help there may be a longer than usual wait time.
Residents who require assistance for storm or flood damage, or if their situation changes can call 132 500.
