Charges upgraded to murder after Queanbeyan assault

FOLLOWING ongoing investigations, a man has had his charges upgraded to murder after he assaulted a 46-year-old in Queanbeyan late last year. 

The 46-year-old man, who was assaulted, was found semi-conscious by police on Trinculo Place, under the Queens Bridge, just before 9.30am on December 26.

He was treated at the scene before being taken hospital but despite the efforts of medical staff, he died.

After an investigation, a 50-year-old man, believed to be the offender, was arrested at a home on Lowe Street, Queanbeyan, just before 12.30am on Friday, December 27.

He was initially charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, having custody of knife in a public place and manslaughter. His charge has now been upgraded to murder.

He will face Queanbeyan Local Court.
