CANBERRA Liberals Leader Alistair Coe stepped out of his comfort zone this morning (March 11) and shaved his head to raise awareness and funds for families impacted by blood cancer.
Mr Coe participated in the World’s Greatest Shave at King O’Malley’s this morning and is hoping to raise $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“[I stepped] out of my comfort zone, but I believe it’s important to stand with people who are fighting cancer,” he says.
“Blood cancer is one of the most diagnosed and deadliest cancers in Australia. Every day another 35 Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer. Although research is improving survival, sadly an Australian loses their life to blood cancer every two hours.
“As a community we can all play a small part in making a big difference to so many lives.
“[And] we have all been impacted by cancer in one way or another.”
In its 22nd year, the World’s Greatest Shave aims to raise $16.5 million.
