Creative Canberrans come together online

CAAG co-ordinator Michael Sollis recently at “Art Not Apart”.

HUNDREDS of performers, artists and other creative Canberrans have come together to help support the community during the COVID-19 period through the Canberra Artists Action Group, which is open to everyone with a stake in the arts and entertainment. Organiser Michael Sollis will be convening a weekly online meeting at 12.30pm every Wednesday and invites interested people to join the conversation at facebook.com/canberraplusarts/

Beaver Galleries at 81 Denison Street, Deakin, is now open by appointment only with strict conditions of entry. The new show “Jörg Schmeisser: The Journey Continues: Prints from the Family Collection” is up. The Beavers will still be working at the gallery to receive appointments and to answer calls and emails. Call 6282 5294 or email mail@beavergalleries.com.au. QUEANBEYAN-Palerang Regional Council has confirmed the closure of libraries, The Q – Queanbeyan Performing Arts, museums and galleries, effective from today, March 26.

SHORTIS and Simpson will be heard on ArtSound FM at 8pm tomorrow, Friday, March 27 at 92.7 FM (90.3 in the Tuggeranong Valley). It’s a recording of “Silver Heads and Golden Leaders”, their fundraiser for Cobargo. ArtSound can be found at artsound.fm

SPECIAL ACT Government funding of up to $10,000 per artist is now open to help support arts development and arts practices over the next six to nine months. Applicants will need to provide: a statement outlining how the funding will support their arts development and practice; a brief bio; and a current CV. Inquiries to 6207 2384.
