IN a bid to support seniors affected by COVID-19, the Council on the Ageing (COTA) ACT is attempting to raise $5000 tomorrow (October 28) to go towards its seniors programs.
And, Beyond Bank has promised to double up to $5000 worth of donations, meaning COTA ACT could raise $10,000 on the day.
All donations will go towards programs that will help older Canberrans affected by covid, such as COTA ACT’s “Get IT” program, which helps seniors become confident online and independent in an increasingly digitised world.
The donations will also go to their “Pandemic Players Theatre Project”, which explores how COVID-19 has isolated elderly members in the community.
“The participants will work with local theatre professionals from Rebus Theatre to explore feelings of loneliness and isolation as well as marginalisation and look at wellbeing, methods of healing and building resilience,” says COTA ACT CEO Jenny Mobbs.
