Early votes expected to surpass 100,000 by tomorrow

EARLY voting for the ACT election is expected to go beyond 100,000 tomorrow (October 9), according to ACT electoral commissioner Damian Cantwell.

As of yesterday, 87,199 Canberrans had already casted their votes.

And, with eight days remaining, Mr Cantwell continues to encourage people to vote early to reduce large numbers of people turning up to voting venues on a single day.

With more than 20,000 postal vote applications also received, about 35 per cent of voters have either already cast their vote or requested their vote this election, the commissioner says.
