THE ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) is urging Canberrans to be patient after it was flooded with calls over the past day.
Following recent rain and strong winds, ACTSES has received more than 360 requests for assistance and says it will respond to each call throughout the day. Many of the calls have been about leaks due to roof-damaged homes, which were damaged during the hailstorm.
“Our volunteer crews are busy on the ground and are working as quickly as they can to clear jobs,” says ACTSES.
With the Bureau of Meteorology predicting thunderstorms for this afternoon, ACTSES is also urging Canberrans to take the steps now to keep property safe.
“Secure any loose items around your property, avoid parking under trees and do not enter or drive through flooded areas,” says ACTSES.
