ESA says the Beard Fire has been extinguished

THE Beard Fire, which started on January 22 at the Pialligo Redwood Forest and at its peak closed runways at Canberra airport and threatened Oaks Estate, Beard and West Queanbeyan, has been extinguished.

In confirming this, the ACT Emergency Services Agency says it will continue to monitor the area over the coming days.
