Health chief gives gaming the green light

FROM 9am, Monday (August 10) a small number of businesses and activities will be allowed to recommence, including the casino and gaming in clubs, according ACT chief health officer Dr Coleman.

Dr Coleman says food courts, for dining, steam-based services such as saunas, steam rooms and bathhouses, and strip clubs and escort agencies, will also be allowed to re-open.

These changes will see us move to stages 3.1 of Canberra’s recovery plan,” she says.

“Bars, clubs and pubs are able to continue to serve alcohol but must continue to serve it to seated patrons but there is no limit on the size of group bookings at this time.

“When gyms, health clubs and fitness facilities are unstaffed, we will now be allowing up to 25 patrons to be in the venue.

“A new requirement is that all venues, facilities and businesses must clearly display occupancy allowances at entrances to each venue or space.”

Chief Minister Andrew Barr says there are further steps in the ACT’s recovery plan, such as capacity limits for smaller venues, that will be assessed again in a fortnight.

There are currently no active cases of COVID-19 in the ACT.

You have to remember how Clubs depend on having problem gamblers to survive in the ACT. Does not happen in WA.
