STANDING for “strong health”, Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services (WNAHCS), an Aboriginal community controlled primary health care service, says its aim is to help its clients achieve strong health.

Operated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of the ACT, the health and community service provides a culturally safe, holistic health care service for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the ACT and its surrounding regions.

Winnunga Nimmityjah AHCS provides, not only medical care, but a range of programs to promote good health and healthy lifestyles, as well as services such as GP and nursing services, midwifery services, immunisations, health checks, hearing services, dental services, physiotherapy, nutrition services and psychiatrist services.

Winnunga Nimmityjah AHCS says it’s been at the forefront of setting a national agenda for quality improvement in Aboriginal community-controlled health and continues to advocate locally and nationally for best practice standards in all operational and governance areas of all Aboriginal health services.
