Labor promises to help ‘hard-hit’ universities

ACT Labor leader Andrew Barr

A RE-ELECTED Labor government pledges to help hard-hit universities and other tertiary education institutes by giving them $30 million to help them save and create jobs.

The party will also implement payroll tax deferrals for local universities, they’ll offer sustainability loans, construct a north side elective surgery centre in partnership with the University of Canberra, and will expand the Canberra Innovation Network to CIT Tuggeranong and University of Canberra in Belconnen.

“The ACT’s tertiary education sector is one of our largest employers, and ACT Labor is committed to supporting our local universities and encouraging job creation over the coming decade,” says ACT Labor leader Andrew Barr.
