TWENTY per cent of Canberra’s playgrounds are in need of urgent attention, say the Canberra Liberals in announcing a $25 million revitalisation fund to make every playground safe, well-maintained and enjoyable for families to use.

Leader Alistair Coe has pledged that neglected playgrounds will get upgraded equipment, new shade sails, fencing, rubbish bins and seating under an elected Liberal government.

The ACT election will be held on October 17 though pre-polling has begun.

He says his government would also build new playgrounds, with a focus on larger, quality playgrounds that include facilities such as barbecue areas, seating, more trees, shade and toilets.

Playgrounds across every electorate have been identified for renewal.
