Woman sexually assaulted in Hawker

A HAWKER man allegedly prevented a woman from leaving his home before throwing knives at her, assaulting her, attempting to choke her and sexually assaulting her on Saturday (June 27) night. 

Police arrested the man, a 52-year-old, on Sunday afternoon and took him to hospital for assessment under police guard.

At hospital, he allegedly assaulted a nurse who was attempting to provide him with medication while at the hospital.

The man is scheduled to appear at the ACT Magistrates Court charged with sexual assault, sexual intercourse without consent, forcible confinement, choke, suffocate, strangle another person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and assault on a frontline community service worker.
