Mild weather could come to the rescue

MILDER temperatures and increased humidity will assist with fire suppression efforts and tactical burning of the Orroral Valley fire, according to the ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA).

The size of the fire grew from 80,248ha to 84,680ha overnight, but ACT ESA is hopeful that today’s weather will help with the firefighting efforts.

Fire activity remains erratic on some parts of the fireground and is most active on the western flank.

Specialised teams continue to assess all roads and road closures in an attempt to re-open once deemed safe.

The bushfire warning level remains at advice.
