A FEMALE motorcycle rider is dead following a collision with a car on Commonwealth Avenue Bridge this afternoon.
At about 2.45pm today (July 20) police were called to the collision between a wheelchair-accessible motorcycle and a car at the northern end of the bridge.
The rider was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics, but died in hospital.
The road was closed for a several hours while the Major Collision Team investigated the circumstances of the incident. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Police say they would like to thank motorists for their patience during this time.
The families have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time and no further details will be provided.
It is the third fatality on ACT roads this year.
