NEARLY 200 drivers were tested for drink or drug driving in a police blitz on the Monaro Highway, Hume, yesterday (November 18).
Of the 177 tests, one driver returned a reading more than the legal blood-alcohol limit with none of the 15 drug tests returning a positive result.
At the same time, police booked one driver for driving unlicensed, one for driving an unregistered vehicle and another for displaying false plates.
“Yesterday’s joint operation was a very positive engagement for ACT Policing and it was encouraging to see only one drink driver,” said A/Insp Ivan Naspe, but warned that police were always on the lookout, especially during National Road Safety Week this week.
