The offender is described as being about25-30-years old, about 170cm (5’7”) tall, thin build, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a pink beanie (at the time of one of the incidents on June 6).

He first approached a man at about 9.40pm, June 6, and demanded his phone, before lunging at the man with a knife. The victim suffered a small wound to his hand.

Then, on June 9 he approached three more people. First, at about 5pm, he approached a man, asking a question, before lunging at him with the knife. The man received minor injuries to his hand and neck.

Half an hour later, the offender approached a woman who was walking near an underpass beneath Johnson Drive. The woman ran in the opposite direction when she saw the man with the knife. She is uninjured.

At about 7.30pm he approached a man near Beazley Crescent, Calwell. He lunged at the man and stabbed him in the back. The victim was transported to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are urging residents in the Calwell area to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to police. Police believe these incidents are all linked and likely to have been the result of actions by one person.

Anyone with information about these incidents (including CCTV that captures the man) should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000 or via Crime Stoppers ACT website quoting reference number 6548759.
