CREWS from ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) and ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) were busy responding to calls for help after heavy rain caused havoc in Canberra’s north yesterday (April 2), with more heavy rain predicted over the next few days.
Since 10.30am yesterday, more than 55 requests for help came in from people who had leaking roofs, as well as blocked downpipes and drains.
Repairs were made, but ACT Emergency Services says they are temporary and residents are urged to organise more permanent repairs as soon as possible.
Crews continue today (April 3) to assist with requests for help while ensuring all precautions are taken to protect themselves and the community.
The rain is predicted to continue today and into the early part of the weekend.
Residents who require assistance for storm or flood damage can call 132 500.
