Ride-share vehicle stopped to arrest woman with meth

A CALWELL woman, who was allegedly in possession of methylamphetamine, attempted to flee from a ride-share vehicle when police stopped it yesterday (August 2) morning.

The woman, a 25-year-old, was in a ride-share vehicle in Fyshwick at about 4.40am. When police stopped the vehicle, she attempted to flee, but was stopped, and found to be in possession of a substance believed to be meth, with an estimated street value in excess of $15,000.

The woman will face charges of trafficking in a controlled drug other than cannabis and possession of a knife without reasonable excuse in the ACT Magistrates Court.

Over the weekend, in a seperate incident, police also arrested another man for being in possession of drugs, when they responded to a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle in O’Connor.

The Latham man, 43, was found slumped over the centre console of the vehicle with the engine still running.

After police woke the man, they searched the vehicle and located a substance believed to be cannabis with an estimated street value in excess of $12,000 and cash, suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with trafficking cannabis, and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

Anyone with information about illicit drug dealing occurring in the ACT is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website
