Rotary recognises supermarket stars

Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak’s Vocational Excellence Award winner Codi Hammond.

CODI Hammond, fruit and vegetable manager at Woolworths Woden, has been awarded the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak’s 2020 Vocational Excellence Award and a prize of $500.

And her colleague and fellow finalist, Monique Vodicka, was also recognised and awarded a prize of $100.

“The vocational excellence award goes to a local person who has demonstrated high level work skills that have made a significant contribution to their local community,” says club spokesman Gary Davis.

“In the first half of 2020, when COVID-19 concerns were extremely high in Canberra, supermarkets saw unprecedented demand for grocery products. During this time, supermarket staff had a really tough job.

“During this time the community recognised and valued supermarket staff as essential workers and saw how professionally and effectively they dealt with customer concerns”.
